Destination… Costa Rica

I Love Costa Rica for so many reasons – dubbed “the poor man’s Maui” While RICH in Culture, Coffee, Surf, Lush Rainforests, Volcanos, Sea Turtles, Monkeys and fabulous Resorts;  I beg the differ…..

I chose to do Costa Rica BIG so naturally I went with Abercrombie and Kent  This tour company is tops! With Abercrombie and Kent you can travel anywhere in the world; solo, couples or with families, they keep groups small, hire a driver, a guide a naturalists and all 5 star. I brought my two daughters on this trip – Costa Rica is safe but with so much to cover with The Atlantic and The Pacific sides – we needed to be whisked efficiently! With my highlights you can contour your own trip…

First off, you’ll land in San Jose, Costa Rica – Stay at Real Intercontinental Hotel, so you can relax and get your bearings – white water rafting is a must – the warmest water in the world to raft so between the whites make sure you jump out and float a bit, choose either Pejibaye or Pecuare Rivers (depending on skill) – NEXT Stay at Tortuga Lodge  (get there by boat at the Cano Blanco dock) a gorgeous resort nestled along the Tropical Rainforest where you’ll spot Sloths, Monkeys, Toucans, Morpho Butterflies – the beauty of Costa Rica, later in the middle of the night you’ll take a guide and watch the Green Sea Turtles some up to 300 pounds lay 80-100 of their eggs.

Next, take a short flight to Jaco  Manuel Antonio -here in you can biplane and swing on a tarzan swing and walk across a rope bridge at The Savegre River, Heres a great site to customize your fly

You MUST go to Manuel Antonio Park  The fabulous National park where Monkeys will climb all over you especially if you have bags in hand- stay at Hotel Arenas Del Mar.

Take a coffee tour at Monteverde you’ll remember this coffee for a lifetime – I still can taste that coffee! If you have time – check out the Rainmaker Aerial Walkway have a beer at El Avion Restaurant -
